Red Beads

These are a variety of matte, shiny and sparkly red beads, although you wouldn't know it from the picture. This represents a bit of a departure for me, believe it or not. I originally thought I'd use navy or dark purple beads in there. It was an accident that the red beads got anywhere near this block, but when they did, I instantly saw the wisdom of using them there.

Keep up the good work and experimenting....I regularly preview numerous bead colors and styles of beads by sprinkling them on my work before I allow my first instinct to take over the decision process. At times, you might find it helpful to use a value finder to help in the selection process. I think one of the biggest tips I can pass on is....analyze the reason for the beads, bead embellishment should complement & enhance....so you want to see them, but don't allow them to overpower. Sorry if this is too much info...grinning.....

Not at all, my dear. The value finder is not something that would have occurred to me, although I use one with fabric choosing. And your comment about not allowing the beads to overpower? That's exactly what I am worried about on the current block I'm working on and why I haven't posted more progress in the last few days! Just kind of stuck wondering... Thanks for mentioning it so I don't think I might be crazy to think that.
