This Is A Sleeve?

Yes, this IS a sleeve, for my eyelet cardigan. Because of the way the shoulder extends down the arm, the length of the sleeve is quite short and straight across the top. One more to go and I can complete seaming the sweater to completion.

I also layered up the orphan block for the pillow and machine quilted it by stitching in the ditch which you can see from this back view. I studied the seams to see how I could quilt with the least amount of starting and stopping and was pleased to find that I only had to start in a new place three times. A little game I played that was pretty satisfying.

It's been hot here so I'm usually inside until the sun goes down and it starts to cool, making for some very pleasant evening walks that include some star gazing although I have little idea of what I'm looking at. I do spend a little time on my east-facing deck late morning to do a little reading. Its shade and slight breezes are equally a pleasant way to enjoy the waning summer. How are things like in your part of the world?

Your sleeve is looking very nice! We're having cooler (80's/40's) weather this week, but last week was brutal getting close to 100 on a couple of days. There are fires SE of us which makes it hazy most days. Five of us got together with our Idaho friend for lunch & had a great time catching up on all her news. Jan in WY

Thanks Jan! It strikes me as a little wonky right now but some blocking will get it in shape. I saw air quality warnings over part of Wyoming and wondered if it was drifting over you. For all the fires around us, we've had little smoke, not going above the low yellow stage. Happy to hear you had such a good reunion. :-)

Those little games give an enhanced feeling of accomplishment, don’t they. I’m stuck inside recuperating from hip replacement surgery but that’s ok. Our temps in northern Indiana have been in the 90s with humidity over 70+ %. Often feels like over 100. When I was a kid, our summers brought 5 or 6 90 degree days. So far we have had 22 this year. It seems like I add water to my fish pond every day. I prepped some fabric for scrappy dolls with gift bags for the elementary school kids where my daughter is the head custodian.

Stay cool and keep busy. Carol in Northern Indiana

Yes, Carol, if nothing else, games can help motivate and indeed enhance the feeling of accomplishment. Sounds like you picked a good time to be recovering from that surgery - too hot to do much outdoors anyway, right? I lived in Wisconsin for 13 years so I can empathize with the humidity stacked on top of the high temps. You keep cool and busy too. Sounds like a good recuperating project you've got there. May all go well. :-)
