I almost hesitate to post this picture of Judi's November Journal Quilt because, well, it's so dang good! There are times when she really shows me up - but I am not jealous, really. We each have our strengths, and freely share our experiences and expertise with each other. Our friendship has helped both of us grow and be better artists.
These psychedelic llamas were inspired by photos taken by a co-worker on a trip to Machu Picchu. She's already made a larger, more elaborate piece with these charming llamas, and now she's thinking she'd like to make a series of smaller ones like this.
Judi used fused applique on this piece, and chose the background fabric because of its grass-like design, then free-motion machine quilted it. At present, she's having some tension problems with her machine, which apparently made quite a mess on the back of the quilt. So she fused another piece of fabric onto the back to cover it up. A single fold binding finishes the piece. Be sure to click on the picture for a better view of the detail.
