Rochester's Irish Fest

It's Labor Day weekend but my friend Judi and I are still kinda stuck here in Rochester, MN. Still making daily trips to the infusion center although now we are down to a quick shot and then can be on our way. Usually there's not much going on in downtown Rochester on the weekends but this Friday afternoon and all day Saturday the Peace Plaza has been host to the Irish Fest. Most of the food vendors' wares sounded heavier than we were looking for (meat pies and corn beef and cabbage), so we just looked at the few craft booths and listened to the music.  Yes, in the picture above, that is an Irish Wolfhound. To our dismay, we learned that the typical lifespan for these big dogs is only 5-7 years.

Young dancers from the local Irish dancing club.

And a little Irish music from Melissa & Larry Schmidt. Listen to them perform here.

Fairies and Leprechauns circulated collecting donations. I found the sight of a fairy talking on a cell phone a little disconcerting. She had great wings though!
